Guide

How to write a floor plan brief an AI can draw.

A good AI floor plan prompt has four parts: the size, the rooms, how the rooms connect, and the style. One or two sentences are enough. Here is the formula and examples you can copy.

Try it free

1. Start with size

Give the total area or the outer dimensions. "85 m²" works. "8 by 11 metres" is even better, because it fixes the shape.

2. List the rooms

Name each room and how many. "2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, open kitchen and living, small entry."

3. Say what connects

Links are what make a plan feel right. "Bathroom next to the main bedroom." "Kitchen open to the living room." "Entry does not look into the bedroom."

4. Add style and use

Style guides the furniture. Use guides the layout. "Warm Scandinavian, two people working from home."

Examples

Copy one and change the numbers.

  • "2-bed apartment, 85 m², open kitchen, bathroom next to the main bedroom, warm Scandinavian."
  • "Studio, 38 m², sleeping nook behind a shelf, kitchen along one wall, desk by the window."
  • "Single-storey house, 10 by 14 metres, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room facing south."

Then refine

Do not try to say everything at once. Get a first draft, then fix one thing at a time: "make the bathroom 20 cm wider", "add a pantry".

Questions

How long should a floor plan prompt be?

One or two sentences. Size and rooms are the minimum.

Should I give exact room sizes?

Only for rooms where it matters to you. Leave the rest to the agent and adjust after.
